SPECIAL EVENTS

SOFTBALL FOR THE SOUL

Join us this year as we put together a team of Trinity folk and others to compete in the summer Methodist softball league. It's co-ed, and a lot of fun. We play Sunday afternoons, and you have to "pray to play".

In other words, you have to be in church on the day of the game. Folks who attend other churches/faith communities are welcome to play on Trinity's team. Given the summer we'll need lots of players because few folk will be able to attend all the games.

So invite your friends, and neighbors. It's a fun, cheap, local thing to do on bright beautiful Seattle Sunday afternoons. Call the office 784-2227 for more info.

Welcome to Trinity!

Lent

We are a social justice collection of folks who really do believe that the message of Jesus is relevant to the politics of our time.
We affirm the vision of a joyous creation-centered, nonviolent economy at the heart of Jesus' teachings and life. We affirm that life is centered and grounded in relationships of diversity and tolerance. We affirm, "all are welcome" as God's beloved in one global family.

We're not perfect and we're not Heaven on earth. We're strugglers who have a vision of the way the world ought to be: we are trying to be a community living towards that world through our lives today.

TRINITY SAYS NO TO TORTURE

another Event

There is a growing religious movement across the nation lifting up public voices against the use of torture. This movement, National Religious Coalition Against Torture has asked faith communities to hang banners publicly voicing our faith-based opposition. Our banner reads simply, TRINITY UMC SAYS TORTURE IS WRONG. It has the e-address of WWW.NRCAT.ORG which we encourage you to check out.

Our sister church U Temple UMC has also done the same, along with several dozen other Seattle Tacoma congregations (and hundreds, hopefully soon thousands) across the nation. This statement is in line with UMC Social Principles, and is most certainly in line with the spiritual DNA of Trinity. Needless to say, on this issue, it is quite easy to know what Jesus, our crucified Lord, would say.

Link to NRCAT statement and articles.

Also got to statement:

                Torture IS a Moral Issue

SATURDAY SOUP

another Event

SATURDAY SOUP from 11am-1pm for the Ballard community.
SATURDAY SOUP is our relational ministry with neighborhood homeless. We serve from 11am-1pm for the Ballard community. We host a lunch serving delicious and nutritious soup, sandwiches and hospitality to the homeless and lonely in the Ballard community. The success of this mission and response from our congregation and community has been tremendous. We consistently serve between 30 and 40 people and the numbers continue to grow as the word gets out. Volunteers come from the community, our wonderful choir, as well as from other congregations.
For volunteer opportunities contact the church office. The time requirement is minimal and the rewards are great. Donations of paper napkins, small paper cups, books, or magazines can be made in the Saturday Soup Donation box in the parlor. If you would like to make a monetary donation to help with supplies, please contact the church office.
We invite everyone to come on Saturday and have a delicious bowl of soup and a sandwich with us. Great things are happening and we would love to see you there!

Gardening - Creation Care

another Event

Our Gardening Group -- Creation Care is dedicated to the upkeep and maintenance of or newly constructed garden. Although a garden tender's work is never done, this group is most active from the spring to the late fall. All are welcome to rejoice in our community garden!
Contact the Church Office if you are interested in becoming involved with the Trinity Creation Care Group!
